Artist Biography

Susan Frazier Artist Bio & Statement Susan Frazier is a versatile American artist celebrated for her expressive styles and vibrant visual narratives. Her creative journey was shaped early on by immersive travels and exposure to diverse cultures and artistic traditions. Susan studied fine arts at Chouinard Art Institute under Emerson Wolfer, later joining the feminist art movement of the 1970s at the California Institute of the Arts. She worked closely with pioneering mentors Judy Chicago and Miriam Schapiro, whose influence continues to echo through her work. For much of her life, Susan balanced a career as a technical writer and illustrator with the joys of raising a family. In retirement, she returned fully to her artistic calling and now resides in Rancho Mirage, California—where she continues to produce compelling, thought-provoking art. Her work often explores themes of nature, emotion, and identity, rendered in vivid color and a dreamlike aesthetic. Deeply inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe, Susan admires the raw emotional power and vibrant clarity found in O’Keeffe’s paintings, which inform her current style. Working primarily in series, Susan allows each subject to dictate its form and language. Her Antelope Canyon series, for example, reveals multiple perspectives on one Arizona landmark—inviting viewers into both literal and emotional landscapes. “The life of an artist is a life of discovery.” —Susan Frazier Education, Exhibitions & Affiliations Upcoming & Past Exhibitions 2025: Galen Museum / SWAF La Quinta Art Faire 2024: Laguna Art Gallery, 29 Palms Gallery, JJ Harrington Gallery 2019–2023: Cathedral City Art Exhibition – Perez Art District 2018: Here & Now Art Alliance – Idyllwild 2017: OCCCA Protest as Art 2015: Fine Arts America 2009: BrandX Exhibits – iambrandx.ning.com Past Gallery Affiliations & Online Portfolios 2005–2008: Artsoc.org 2000–2008: Dart.fine-art.com 1998–2008: WWAR.com / Absolutearts.com 1995–2022: Frazierportfolio.com Organizations & Art Councils Desert Cities Art Council (DCAC) Palm Springs Art Council Desert Art Center (DAC)
