Patricia Louise Corbett
A Life Composed in Color and Song
Medium: Oil
Region: Connecticut, USA
Style: Impressionism (French & Californian influence)
Themes: Landscapes, seascapes, portraits, emotional expression through nature
Born in Los Angeles and raised as the eldest of thirteen siblings, Patricia Corbett was destined to live a life filled with creativity. Six of her siblings also pursued visual arts, weaving a rich tapestry of artistic expression through her family. Yet Patricia’s own path took a serendipitous detour: a successful global career in singing and performance that would, in time, deepen her understanding of emotion and artistic voice.
In 2005, Patricia returned to her original passion—oil painting—and brought with her the soul of a performer, now channeled through brush and pigment. Her evocative paintings of the Merritt Parkway’s landscapes and bridges have become her signature, blending the atmospheric charm of French Impressionism with the golden hues of Californian light.
She studied under celebrated artists including Ron Rencher, Don Demers, Kathy Anderson, Sherrie McGraw, and John Massimino, and has attended workshops across Italy and France, including the prestigious Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris. Her growing body of work embraces not only nature scenes, but also portraits and figures that explore the human spirit.
“In art, there’s a saying: ‘One must find one’s own voice.’ Singing helped me transition to painting. Expression through any art form is like reaching deep into your soul and letting the emotion of your life pour out. When you trust yourself enough to do that, you get what’s called a standing ovation in singing. Music and art have their own voices—but both are in a dance with nature.” — Patricia Corbett
