Artist Statement
Still life painting by California artist, Ron Salvetti.
Building on the legacy and tradition of realist still life masters, I paint primarily still life subjects in oils using contemporary poses and setups to seek order, harmony and beauty in the arrangement of objects – the light, form and shadow, and to communicate that which I see to the viewer.
My painting subjects are both organic and inanimate objects and may have some personal meaning, but mostly I like the way an arrangement or placement of those objects look, with the light, shadow, background and foreground playing central roles.
Art is beauty and has always played a major part of my life, whether in doing or observing and appreciation.
Influences include the realist Dutch and Flemish traditions, Josh van Riswick and contemporary realists like the Belgian painter, Tony de Wolf.
